harness room restored

An important part of the Royal Stables is the harness room.

After a thorough restoration this room is filled again with a voluminous and varied collection of harnesses. The collection, dating mostly from 1840-1940, includes state harnesses as well as ordinary harnesses, hunting and sporting gear. Also accessories like sleigh-bells and plumes for winter sport are shown.

Queen Wilhelmina (1880-1962): Paintings and drawings

The garden wagon (1909), built as a mobile painter's studio, is shown in an exhibition about the painting skills of Queen Wilhelmina.

The grandmother of the present Queen Beatrix loved to spend quiet moments outside, drawing and painting landscapes. Sketches, drawings and paintings are well preserved and are shown to the public in this special exhibition.
