Landaulet

Litter
Litter (from fre.: "litière") is a wheelless conveyance supported between two poles and carried by two horses or mules. Until the middle of the 19th century, litters were popular as safe travelling vehicles. Travelling litters were equipped with some comfort: they usually had a built-in toilet and at night a bed could be set up.
Landschützer (ger.)
Landschützer (also: Lanschützer) is a german term, customary in Austria, Germany and Switzerland, denominating various types of simple hunting carriages. They are occasionally equipped with a removable folding top which can be fixed over each seat.
Landau
A four wheeled carriage with two falling tops which, when up, lock togehter in the middle and form an enclosed inner compartment. It was probably developed in Germany in the late sixteenth century and took its name from the Bavarian town Landau. It was one of the most popular carriage types in the 19th century.
